New Findings On The Gluten Front

This morning at the hotel we decided to sit down and have a real hot breakfast. I had fruit. I had eggs and vegetables. I had bacon. My son got a Belgium waffle that smelled so good. I broke down and ate some. I got a headache. eggs and cheese

I simply thought to myself that I would just hurt however, I forgot that I also get headaches. It came on almost instantly and although the pain did not get too bad (I only had a few bites of the waffle) it stayed constant throughout the day. What I want to know is why did the waffle seem to cause immediate results and yet when I ate shrimp tempura sushi later on for lunch, I didn’t seem to feel any worse?

I am still trying to figure out the whole situation and stop fighting myself. It’s like anything. The more I tell myself no, the more I want it.  How do you handle living gluten-free when the rest of your family doesn’t?

  • I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease one year ago and immediately started the GF diet. It is one of the most notoriously difficult diets out there. I still mess up sometimes. My family is not gluten free and so that makes it even harder. You just gotta put it in your head that if you eat this garbage, it’s gonna cause serious health problems in the long term. It sucks, I know… but it’s the only way to get better.

Hello and thanks. I am in the same situation. At the same time, I am a binge eater so whatever is around at the time I want to eat, whether hungry or not, I will eat. I am currently doing research on binge eating and think that once I can figure that out, now worry so much about making it easier for “everyone” else (by not worrying bout making something different for me) it has to be easier. Your encouragement is a bug help.

    Thanks and good luck!
