First of all, let me be honest with you. I am not even a vegetarian. Before you bypass and click delete, I am NOT a veggie/vegan “hater”. LOL I can completely understand the reasoning. If I could have a farm in the city (I live downtown in Cincinnati) and still be a flight attendant, I so totally would. I AM aware of how animals are treated and do what I can by buying and actively researching where to get better kept animals. I buy Eggland’s Best Free-Range Eggs and organic everything I can. I actually do not eat a lot of red meat and love fresh wild fish. And, all the fruits and vegetables I can get.
One thing to remember is that God gave us animals to eat. And, He even said that some of those are not allowed. Each animal has a purpose. We do need to fight for the better treatment of animals and not just profits!
I have begun to read (after reading The Raw Food Energy For Life and the Raw Food Detox Diet~ Natalia Rose), The Maker’s Diet by Dr. Joedan S. Ruben N.M.D., Ph.D. .
He suffered from Crohn’s Disease so bad that he was seriously ill.
The book is a diet lifestyle that is scientifically proven Bible based eating. It shows how and why to avoid all of the diseases including the cancers that both of our father’s died from.
Did you know that you are not supposed to eat pork!? Ugh! I love pork chops. It’s the “other white meat”. Right? Wrong. What it is, is a scavenger animal that eats anything and everything and doesn’t digest it properly. And, then we eat it.
I do not mean to push you further into vegetarian’ism’ however, for your health (and mine and our children) it is valuable to learn everything we can. If you are truely interested in being more healthy and doing right by your child(ren) then I suggest learning more that just how inhumane some farms are.
The Maker’s Diet (they pay me no royalties so this is all honest and you can call or write me anytime) is a very interesting and mind blowing read that even talks about vegetarian and vegan diets and demands organic fruits and vegetables for healthy disease free living.
One passage in the book:
“The human body require twenty-two amino acids to build body organs, muscles and nerves (and much more). …the healthy human body is able to manufacture all but eight of the 22 amino acids from healthy food sources entering the body. If even one of these ….is missing, the bodt is unable to synthesize the other proteins it needs-no matter how much protein you eat. Animal protein is our only complete protein source, providing all eight essencial amino acids. …we begin to lose Myocardisal muscle, which may contribute to coronary heart disease.”,
The book includes a lot of the raw foods and vegetrian foods (except a lot of soy and tofu (made from soy) (because of the process I think) but includes everything that God gave us to eat including certain meats.
There are a lot of wonderful vegetarian/vegan people that I have met and I am not against them. I am worried though because my step-daughter went to Vegan after she went to a farm in Australia. She was alway sick and I was very worried. It’s a very fine line and takes a lot of work to eat perfectly when you are trying to get the perfect balance from limited nutrient sources.
Do what you feel is best for you and your family just be informed.
