Breville Fountain Compact Has Arrived

Yeah! The delivery company brought my juicer just in time. I had to get to the airport by 1530 (3:30pm) yesterday and I was a little sad that it was probably going to come while I was gone. I wanted to be the first one to try it and I didn’t want to wait three days to do so.

It’s a little more plastic that I thought it would be however, that’s simply because I got so excited that I didn’t pay attention to the watts when reading the ad on Ebay. I really don’t think it will be a problem since it’s engineered grade polymer and still looks great. The size is perfect for my kitchen and the important parts that actually process the foods are stainless steel. The difference between the 700 watt and the 750 watt are a difference of plastic or chrome. They are both 14,000 rpm’s and I do not see me knowing the difference. The bottom has a really nice rubber footing, which is a definite plus because this thing has some power to it. I have to admit that it scared me when I first tried it!

I am not sure if I would mind a solid color bowl instead of the clear gray plastic because it’s sort of like the CSI of fruits and vegetables. You know when the blood gets splattered all over? That’s what it was like when the food goes in! Perhaps I am not as tough as I thought.

For my first try, I used a couple of apples, a pear that was apparently not going to be eaten otherwise and two carrots. Note to self: please remember to put the juicer’s cup under the spout! Oh my was that good. I recommend that combo to all.

Next, I used beets and the leaves and some carrots. I first put in the beets, then the greens and then the carrots. I folded up the leaves to give them more density and followed with the carrots to sort of make sure it was all pushed through but some of the leaves still didn’t make it. I may have pushed too quickly so I will have to try it again later. The combination was pretty good however, I thought it was a little bitter so I added some raw agave nectar. Not bad. Still more veggie-healthy than the yummy yummy apple/pear/carrot one that I think even my 6 year old would drink.

I cleaned the machine in between both combinations which took a matter of seconds so I didn’t mind at all and was actually very pleased with. The plastic parts rinse off with no trouble and the product comes with a brush to clean out the filter. Definitely make sure that you clean out the filter right away. Breville says to soak it for 10 minutes but even that’s not necessary if you do it immediately. I did place it in hot soapy water while I rinsed off the other pieces so maybe that did make it easier. Anyway, I made 4 cups of two different kinds of juices, which I cleaned in between each combination and had it all cleaned for the day in less than 5 minutes. Woo Hoo!

I cannot wait to get home tomorrow and head up to Findlay Market to get more fruits and veggies!

Still loving this juicer. I wasn’t feeling well over the last three days and had hardly eaten anything. Last night, I made some beet and carrot juice and woke up feeling great!
