Alrighty. I was so nervous about my first trip back. You know, since I haven’t flown in a while and everything. In fact, Michael and I took a quick overnight trip to visit the hubby in Charley West Wednesday and it was excrutiating to climb the stairs onto the plane.
First of all, the trip changed three times before I even got to work. It doesn’t always matter though since it can feel like same thing, different city. I was supposed to be in Newark, NJ on Saturday night and Albany,NY on Sunday night. Then, they changed it to New York City’s LaGuardia on Saturday with a quick turn to Toronto on Monday. Before I had even checked in for the trip, I was staying in Pittsburgh, PA with the same Monday YYZ (Toronto). I travel as a deadhead (non-working crewmember) to Pittsburgh with the intentions of working a flight to JFK at 0600, then Jacksonville, Fl on Sunday finishing up in Cincinnati that night. By the time I got to the hotel room and pulled up Epic, I discovered that I was going to deadhead back to Cincinnati in the morning because the JFK flight had been cancelled. Now, I was just saying to the other flight attendant on the flight here how ironic I found it that my NYC overnight was cancelled for weather and yet they had me on a trip that was going to fly to NYC the very next day! Now, how many of you think this all makes sense?
FYI~nothing makes sense in this industry.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. I am being paid to fly to a nice hotel and tell you all about it just to fly back home the next day. Thank you Mother Nature. Of course, I pray for those who are actually out braving it.
